Acne
Acne is a skin condition that occurs when hair follicles on the skin become clogged with oil and dead skin cells. Symptoms include pus-filled pimples, uninflamed blackheads, and/or red, tender bumps.
Severity
Though acne is not life-threatening, it often has many psychological effects, as many people with acne often develop anxiety and depression.
Affected Demographic
Acne usually begins in puberty and affects many adolescents and young adults. Approximately 85 percent of people between the ages of 12 and 24 experience at least minor acne.
Treatment
A dermatologist may prescribe you an acne medication. These include topical ointments, oral medications, and therapies. Retinoids, antibiotics, and light therapy have all been known to help with acne.
